Everybody's Looking...

Annie Lennox (Looking...)
6 x 8 Inches
Ink and Watercolor

Portrait of singer Annie Lennox for my very amazing mother as a late birthday/mother's day gift. She just needs a frame and she'll be ready to be hung at my mom's office! Her suit is inspired by a live performance of "Sweet Dreams" she did back in 1986 while the background was just something I did off the top of my head. I need to do more portraits in the summer for sure!

Postcard Drafts

I'm finally getting around to making postcards! A good friend of mine found a random printshop that makes prints really cheap at any size, so I might try them out. I made two versions of the front to cater to different types of companies (left is for editorial work, right is for clothing/fashion illustration stuff. I didn't make one for galleries yet, I wanna try putting myself out there for more concrete work first. I'm going to force myself to make new stuff, so sit tight!

Aqua...things

Beauty of The Aquatic
 11 x 14 Inches
Ink and Watercolor
Finally finished with this painting!!! This is a gift for another wonderful friend of mine, I wasn't able to give to him on his actual birthday, but I wanted to make sure I did a good job on it. He's wanted a painting from me since the summer. Rendering it was kind of scary because I don't really do a lot of it in my paintings, especially with the backgrounds, but the result couldn't have turned out better.  I used Iggy Azalea and UFFIE as references for the mermaids.

Unhappily In Love

Unhappily In Love
11 x 14 Inches
Ink and Watercolor

Behold, my painting for The Hive Gallery and Studios Feburary show “Hard Love” & “Lullabies & Nightmares” Children’s book illustrations", opening tomorrow at 8pm!!

Loved painting the blood and the explosion in the background (If you couldn't tell, sorry, I'm practicing rendering without a micron men), watching things with lots of blood and junk (RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne, Tucker and Dale vs. evil, True Blood) really helped me get in the mood to paint this! I might try painting more violent things later, but for I have other stuff to catch up with.

 See you on Saturday?

Accepting

Accepting
5 x 7 Inches
Ink and Watercolor

This piece was done as a birthday gift for a very good friend of mine, one of the first friends I made at Otis, and one of my besties, whether she likes it or not! I'm selling prints on Society6, but she'll of course have the original. Not using the micron pen to line the dress was a little difficult, but the result was worth it. I'll try to do more pieces with less micron pen in the future, it will be my new challenge.

Also, here are process photos:

"Hard Love" Progress

The vibe is the same in the new and improved sketch (right), I just added more...hardness to it (Teehehe)!
